I created a #GitHub project for the #Crumar #BIT99 tool I wrote (C language, macOS console). #opensource #sysex #MIDI #synth https://github.com/DarwinNE/Crumar_BIT99_Sysex/tree/main

I updated the tool I wrote so that it can directly communicate with the #Crumar #BIT99 via #MIDI sysex. It can download a single patch or all the 1-99 patches of the instrument. It is a console program written in C for macOS, as I don't have the time to write a full-fledged window-based user interface, but I tried to keep it nice to use nonetheless. #synth #sysex #music
I wrote a small tool in C to interpret the #SYSEX files for the #Crumar #BIT99 and #BIT01. It's handy as you can inspect how a certain patch is configured (DCO1 and 2, VCF, LFO1 and 2 etc). I even found an error in the BIT99 manual: the bit order of certain parameters is reversed! The little tool is still quite rough around the edges, but it begins to work.
I tried to do some sound design on the #Crumar #Bit99 and got some interesting string patches with long attack and release. I tried to improvise some chords on a dorian-like context with the #Arturia Drumbrute Impact drum machine. The result is creamy and atmospheric, I hope you'll enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMGrjNyKKN8 #indiemusic #polysynth #analog #mastoart
Crumar BIT ONE, BIT 99, BIT 01: Little gems of expressivity - GreatSynthesizers

These Crumars are not among the poly-analog synthesizers that have found a permanent place in the Valhalla of vintage instruments. They are unspectacular in appearance, their characteristic acoustic is rarely… Read More

@synx508 I fell into the rabbit hole of the Italian synths of the Marche region a few months ago as I discovered that my GEM S2 was part of it. I LOVE analog hardware and when I searched for an affordable polysynth I noticed that the #BIT99 was affordable yet extremely interesting 😍
I drove for 500km to pick it up, but it was well worth. Look at this beautiful analog Italian #polysynth 😍 A #Crumar #Bit99. With 6 voices, it is capable of beautiful warm pads and punchy bass sounds. I utterly love it. It is relatively obscure, but my gosh what SOUND you can get from it! The filters are just amazing! Made in Castelfidardo! #synth

In the end i did end up using the #tb303 for my latest #jamuary2025 track, in a dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde dual use. From borderline mysterious #ambient electronic bassist to intransigent #techno screaming banshee, it ended up filling its role perfectly, after sidetracking me for hours. #tb303 #tr606 #adrenalinn #sequentialcircuits #sixtrak #crumar #bit99 #hammond #novachord

The 6th track for #jamuary2025 was inspired by my "Radio Interference" album released 30 years ago. Embracing artifacts we normally try to hide, this incorporates mechanical noise (Radio Interference

The #crumar (an Italian synth manufacturer) #bit99 also has a cassette interface. That allows for saving/restoring your patches. It is a good idea to make a backup as you can spend quite some time not only doing the patches but also the layers. The bit 01 is the expander for the 99
