According to Liz, a Tennessee Warbler was singing outside our window this morning.

Tennessee warbler! In the blossoming apple tree. #birdcallout

One of my favorite moments of the spring - hearing the first Scarlet Tanager. It was up on the ridge and across the ravine. Saw a flash of red before it bolted further away. Now I’ll spend the summer trying to photograph it. 🤭 In the meantime, here’s a recording. You can hear it at the very beginning and very end of the sound file.

The roar you hear in the background is the brook, so turn volume up.

#BirdCallOut greenfinches! In the garden.

We just got buzzed by five very upset geese, two pairs and one straggler, low enough to hear their feathers rustle.

woke up at 4:30am and went birding for 2.5 hours. so many warblers have returned. Watched a chestnut-sided warbler singing max volume, head turned up to the sky…so cute. american bittern was also glunkin away in the wetland, always a fave. #birdCallOut
The rose-breasted grosbeaks have arrived, and the males are taking turns belting their rippling territorial whistles on the deck. #BirdCallOut #NotSilentSunday
