Still hope on Thursd. but then the cancer suddenly affected all vital functions. Bilbo fell asleep forever in my arms this morning, relieved of his pain by the vet. I must slowly learn to walk without a leash now. And I will never forget what I learned from him. Early in the morning, he showed me that he had no more strength left for life ...

#BilboToday An absolutely cosy holiday with a late breakfast in bed (Bilbo has breakfast in the hallway). Then we wanted to go out into the autumn forest, which was finally colourful, but a storm and a huge dark black cloud put a spanner in the works. We managed to walk very close to the edge of the cloud. Cloudbursts in the forest! Now, Bilbo is blissfully asleep after all the game tracks and meadow run. He walked as much as months before!

#BilboToday has declared a #dog bed day. Outside, we have "Soiweddr", Alsatian for Sauwetter, or dirty weather. You know, when pigs find enough mud to roll around.🐷 I'll never understand why a #UK dog breed doesn't like #rain but Bilbo #Beagle mix told me that his ancestors once sat beside the open fire. He told me #beagles had always been #landlords, who kept twolegs and horses for fun. And I do believe him everything, as a silly twoleg! 😄 So have a comfortable #weekend! #DogsOfMastodon

A wonderful day with #BilboToday. He was so agile today and even ran some meters enjoying the tracks of other animals, and the scent of mushrooms and walnuts. I could walk quite without pain and enjoyed the coming colours of autumn. They have no fire this year, even the wild cherries don't get red. It's a year of brown-yellow and brown shades. Yesterday we celebrated 5 months after Bilbo's major surgery and he is still happy!

#BilboToday A dog's frustration that the blackberry season is over. And the pride of having dug a big hole. Sniffing the tracks of voles, deer and wild boars while the lame Twoleg can only smell the fox.
Tomorrow we celebrate Bilbo's 5 months living with an aggressive cancer. Hiking became shorter but he still has so much joy.🥰 Every day like today is a feast. #dogLife

#BilboToday Despite his cancer, Bilbo bravely walked a lot today, all the way to the forest. But there the chainsaws were roaring, and so we enjoyed the edge of the forest. Golden October is coming extremely slowly, everything is still quite green. There were many fresh tracks of deer and wild boar. Beagle paradise! And disappointment in the dog's face because the last blackberries had withered. He adores them. I was dressed in a T-shirt with short sleeves and was too warm! #ClimateDiary #Alsace

#BilboToday As it is raining cats (and never #dogs, my dog says!), my walk with Bilbo was the shortest ... to the neighbour's animals.
A wonderful experience: Two #pigs were cuddling asleep in the last dry corner. Suddenly one of them was visibly #dreaming. It sniffed, and burrowed in its sleep. The movements were transferred to the other pig. When the dreaming pig ran in its sleep, the other pig ran with its buddy.
I know such dreaming from dogs but never saw pigs dreaming.🥰 #animals
