Here's the bias list I told you I was thinking of posting.

I hope you and other Kpop fans will post your lists too - if you feel comfortable doing so, of course.

🧵 8/8 Bias List

VIVIZ -- Eunha

As my ultimate bias, Eunha gets two pictures, showing contrasting but not clashing personae. There is so much to love about Eunha, from her charm when she performs to her shorter hairstyles which I absolutely adore.

GFriend, although not officially disbanded, are dormant and probably defunct. VIVIZ have been in limbo since they ended their contract with an agency collapsing amidst allegations of fraud.

I pray that VIVIZ will be able to relaunch. In the meantime I will continue to remember the Eunha of the last VIVIZ comeback, as shown on the left, and will watch the video of her playing Pokemon, as shown on the right, even though I don't really understand the game. That's biasing for you!

🧵 7/8 Bias List

WJSN -- Yeonjung.

We should face the reality that WJSN are limping along to the end of their idol careers, but they remain a wonderful group nonetheless.

I commented the other day that Yeonjung's looks differ from the kind of prettiness common in Kpop. She is still beautiful, though, and listening to her vocals come in on a WJSN track can be truly thrilling!

🧵 6/8 Bias List

RESCENE -- Liv

I like her vocals, even though I think Minami is actually better in that department. I can't really explain why Liv is my bias, but I know without a shadow of a doubt that she is!

I do worry that in recent months she has lost too much weight.

🧵 5/8 Bias List

Fifty Fifty -- Athena

Athena Yang is her real name! I like her voice, even though her groupmate, the equally wonderfully named Chanelle Moon, is a stronger vocalist.

Athena manages to be strikingly beautiful in spite of - or, just as likely, because of -- her having a fuller physique than most idols.

A true child of globalization, with one parent Korean and the other Taiwanese, Athena grew up in Sweden, so sucks boo to nativists and xenophobes.

Fifty Fifty have some great tracks, but they have been dogged recently by some poor choices of title track and member health problems. I am keeping my fingers crossed for their new B sides.

🧵 4/8 Bias List

NMIXX -- Lily

JYP have been able to create in NMIXX a group of some of the best singers in Kpop who are also quite beautiful too.

Lily is outstanding in both respects. I also appreciate the enthusiasm she brings to reading and sharing her book choices.

🧵 3/8 Bias List

Hearts2Hearts -- OT8

I used to think Jiwoo was my bias, then Carmen, then maybe Yuha, or perhaps Juun....I honestly can't pick! They are such a wonderful group.

This picture dates from their debut. As I have said before, I really like their bouncy and house influenced tracks, but I would be so delighted if they would put out more dreamy stuff in the vein of "The Chase".

I like the outfits here, especially the pink tops.

🧵 2/8 Bias List

ARTMS -- Choerry

As with all of my biases on this list, I'm choosing to use her stage name.

Years ago, during the pre-debut period of LOONA, Choerry made a deep impression on me with "Love Cherry Motion".

Even though I did not think that much of her solo release "Pressure", she is still my ARTMS bias. As well as enjoying seeing her in ARTMS stages, I have a hunch that she is a thoroughly nice person in real life.

Kpop Bias List

In the fan lingo of Kpop, one's bias is one's favourite member in a group, so a bias list is a listing of groups with the name of one's bias for each group.

In South Korea, fans tend to devote themselves to one group exclusively. In common with many international fans, I follow more than one group, a practice which I understand many Korean fans find odd, perhaps in the same way an English football fan might be puzzled by someone claiming to support more than one team in the Premier League.

My bias list is in the thread that follows. I've limited myself to current groups, although a couple of them are barely functioning. I haven't included "bias wreckers" -- those members who could prompt one to switch one's bias -- because the list would get unmanageable.

I've written a few word of explanation for each bias, but my Kpop biasing is no different from that of other fans in not being bound by strict rationality. I'm sure I'm like other fans too in having frequent changes to my bias list.

Before starting my actual list, I am going to urge all the other Kpop fans in the Fediverse to post their lists too.
