Running a conference is fun. Seriously. It’s hard work, but it’s fun.
But it’s also an ongoing stressor in an organiser’s life.
Here I am, two weeks out from #TuskCon, #BestHackerConInTheWorld, having a panic attack because I can’t find things I prepped last week. Walls closing in, heartbeat elevated, hands shaking, full on panic attack.
I’m okay, it’s not a big deal, and even if that stuff is lost it’s only going to take 30 min to prep again, and the con would go on just as well without these small things, but in the moment it feels like the most devastating loss in the world.
TBH I think it would be easier if it weren’t something I put so much of my passion into. The tasks themselves are simple. It’s the emotional investment that’s hard.
I sit. I breathe. I take time out and pivot my attention to something else. The world still ticks by on its own, without needing my active involvement.
So while I’m here, taking my timeout, I’m going to remind everyone that you can get Lord Tuskington inspired merch on Redbubble. Check out our official t-shirt here: https://www.redbubble.com/i/t-shirt/TuskCon-2023-Official-by-TuskCon/142293635.NL9AC.XYZ
