Helping to inspire the later #MontgomeryBusBoycott, a similar action began on #ThisDayInHistory in 1953. The #BatonRougeBusBoycott came because of a #strike by white bus drivers to keep the service #segregated. The city compromised and made most seating first-come, first-served.
