#Fugg it, and Fugg them - they don't play nice in the sandbox anyway, and can take their little broken toys and go home.

Just concentrate on:

1.) Doing it right (as you relate you are).
and
2.) Doing what you can (within reason) to accommodate and interoperate with the other prominent, responsible projects. A few I would note would be:

* Friendica
* Mitra
* The Pleroma family of forks
* The Misskey family of forks
