I've been having issues with #Bartender5 for ages now, but never paid too much attention to it because I'm using my mac less and less.
However, today I was really pissed about absolutely poor performance from the app, and after a quick search I dicovered the app was sold a year ago to some rando shady company.
What the actual flying fuck. If we can't trust indie devs we're absolutely doomed.
If anyone is looking for a #Bartender alternative, https://github.com/jordanbaird/Ice has been serving me well for the last couple of days. It's not as polished as Bartender, but I am happy with the current state of Ice.
Also, since no one knows Bartender's new owners, I am happy to switch an open-source project!
