Temperature inversions are common in Bulgaria. This means that often there is mist down in the valleys where the cold air is trapped while my village up in the mountains is bathed in glorious sunshine.
You can just make out my village in the middle left of the photo. Today the edges of the mist are lapping over the village
When the peaks are lost in the clouds, I like to imagine the mountains are 5 times as high as they are in reality.
