Do you have an example of stealth solar?
I've been thinking a lot about 'stealth solar' where people attach #solarpanels to places in a subtle way to capture the sun's energy. It might be stealth as there are strict rules or just want to keep it low key. #balconysolar is sort of stealth gone mainstream.
With cheaper MPPT devices you can now accept slightly poorer efficiency due to placement and with microinverters don't need to make long strings. I particularly think that there is no point having a solar panel in storage, best get it out there and generating even if it's in a temporary place!
So I thought I'd start a small website that documents different stealth setups, so if you have cheeky solar panels and would be willing to share a little info (but not too much if it would get you in trouble) get in touch.
The Editorial Board of the @washingtonpost writes about #pluginpv: „it’s silly to stop people from trying to pull less electricity from the grid as America’s energy needs continue to grow“

In the US, #BalconySolar is a state by state matter. And it's prohibited in too many states, to the cost of those who pay utility bills and the #profit of #utilities (IOUs)
I've written to my state legislators - have you?
Low-income households will get taxpayer-subsidised, plug-in solar panels to cut their energy bills, the Government has announced.
Up to £25m to pay for the panels for those “most in need” has been earmarked by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero
It is not clear how the Government will determine who is eligible for the scheme, but previous Warm Homes support has defined low-income households as either earning less than £36,000, living in a deprived postcode or receiving a means-tested benefit such as universal credit

Beyond time that this should be approved in Ireland, solar is not (should not be) just for the rich

In and of itself these bills are a good thing, but it seems bad that that we're essentially letting landlords off the hook and expecting tenants to make this investment in solar power. It should be treated like other appliances, such as ovens and refrigerators, that we expect landlords to provide. Furthermore, it's not apparent that this legislation forces landlords (or HOAs for that matter) to allow for these systems to be installed.

#PlugInSolar bill gets green light from #Maine Legislature By Tina Fischer, April 6, 2026 "Mainers are one step closer to being able to utilize compact, plug‑in solar kits to reduce their household’s energy bill, with the Legislature’s passage last week of #LD1730. "The units require no rooftop construction and can be installed almost anywhere: on the ground, balcony, deck, or on the side of a building. "No approvals will be needed through the utility interconnection process required for larger rooftop systems, though the assistance of a licensed electrician is required. "The legislation received bipartisan support in both the House and Senate and now moves to Gov. #JanetMills, who has final say on the measure. "Plug-in solar has been widely adopted in Europe. The systems have been modified to meet U.S. electrical standards and can be plugged into an outdoor outlet to generate energy on-site. "For the average Maine household, a 1,200-watt plug-in solar system could cut electricity bills by nearly 20% or $388 a year, according to the Office of the Public Advocate."
