Yes, nature does binaries, and an optometrist would be keenly aware of that: action potentials (the signals your neurons use to do literally everything interesting) are binary: they fire or they don't. In fact, they reduce non-binary inputs to a binary output. All human experience is based on this binary, sort of like all computer stuff is based on binary 1/0 bits. An optometrist would know this as a basic fact.
I fully agree with what the person is trying to say, which is (I think) about gender. However, this isn't the argument. Making shit up to support prosocial goals doesn't really help, IMO.
Nature does binaries, sometimes. That does not translate into gender. Support gender-nontraditional folks of all kinds with better memes, I guess.
