COVID-19 funding is renewed in BC 🎉
Yesterday, the province presented BC Budget 2024. While it was a mix of wins and funding gaps, the headline news for us is that policy-makers have committed to renewed funding for COVID-19 health management.
Specifically, BC Budget 2024 includes over $3 billion over the 3-year fiscal plan “to support ongoing costs for measures previously funded through time-limited pandemic contingencies and federal funding, such as…vaccines, personal protective equipment, lab testing and monitoring”, as well as funding for rural and remote access to care.
This is a HUGE advocacy win for all the British Columbians who raised their voices on this issue. It once again shows us the impact of collective action - which will continue to be important as we address other gaps and omissions, such as the critical need for improved indoor air quality and Long Covid care.
