Last night we toured the Christmas lights in our suburb. There was everything from the casually strewn single strand of bulbs on the biggest plant in the front garden, through to elaborate displays.

This garden had the only kangaroo that we saw.

Special mentions go to the blow up Santa standing in the boat on the trailer in the front yard, and the entire blow up Heeler family.

A newish set of two storey terrace houses each had the most amazing displays, and together they won our Viewers' Choice awards.

3 years ago were the fires. In howling winds I reported a *second* nearby fire on 8 Nov. Emergency services were unsure, they'd just put out a fire. Both were visible from home, same ridge but km apart. Later that day, we were evacuated. "GET OUT NOW!" All our land burned, except near the house.

Black Summer had just begun. Major fires sadly took human & animal lives, destroyed bush, & hundreds of houses across swathes of eastern Australia. We were surrounded for months, north, south, and west, a noose inexorably tightening. My nerves were shot. We could see flames, km & km of flames. Our burnt backyard would do nothing. Firies desperately fought, firebreaks, backburns, choppers, planes, but the flames were only days away. Late Feb it started to drizzle, stopping backburns, not fires. 😱 The next morning we awoke to light rain, it got heavier & rained for weeks. At last we relaxed. I and many others will never be over it. We were lucky. Others weren't.
