If this doesn't bring you back to 1997 and the Shibuya-kei scene, at least it will make you smile.

We're talking about #AsianMusic?
Video games were a big part of my childhood, so Nobuo Uematsu, the SEGA Team, Koji Kondo and the creators of that wonderful music have long been an influence on me.
In regards to #HeavyMetal, Sigh 🇯🇵 are the first band I think of in regards to Asia. In Somniphobia is one of my favorite albums ever, and their catalog is incredible. They put Asian #BlackMetal on the map.
X-Japan 🇯🇵 are, of course, one of the most important #VisualKei bands in history, and their musicianship is incredible.
Melt-Banana 🇯🇵 are a #Noise/#AvantGarde rock group who put out the incredible "3+5" a few years ago, and was my AOTY.
Wormrot 🇸🇬 are probably my favorite #Grindcore/#PowerViolence band. Every album they've put out is untouchable.
Plecto Aliquem Capite 🇱🇰 are one of the most unhinged #BlackMetal bands I've ever heard. I recommend checking out their EP "The end".
Recently, I've also started listening to more Asian #Doom/#Stoner/#Sludge metal and really enjoy Church of Misery 🇯🇵, who write almost exclusively about serial killers.
And, of course, Boris 🇯🇵. They're comparable to the Melvins, but also not a thing like them, but they're own strange entity. The song Quicksilver fucking slays, while a song like Farewell is a mellow affair. Their collaborations are great, too.
I plan on checking out more stuff, like Tang Dynasty 🇨🇳, and will take any recommendations for heavy stuff.
I'm not a fan of J- or C- or K- Pop but I'm not about to dismiss them. Kudos to those groups for making so many people (adults included) happy and creating something positive. That being said, Faye Wong has a magical voice, and Eyes On Me is a classic pop song for me.
I have some Indian music - #Raga and some pop - as well as some Cambodian #Psychedelic in my collection.
I'm also interested in music using the sitar, oud, erhu and other such instruments.

From my instrumental playlist, some guitar magic from Jin san Kim.
