This was Cory Young's eighth felony charge, and he's previously been arrested multiple times on charges of aggravated assault. In my experience, an arrest record is not actually any basis for judging a person's character (tho that much assault is more than a little sus). So it should also be noted that (surprise!) he's also a longtime member of the Aryan Brotherhood. According to Arizona Right Watch over on Bluesky (@azrww.bsky.social), he had a crowd of supporters in the courtroom today, many of whom had "visible white supremacist tattoos." Also, 3.5 years is the minimum he was up for after he covered up for the fact that his Nazi friend beat Young's own roommate to death.

This all seems like important info to me, but apparently most of it isn't to this outlet or any of several others I looked at.

A man convicted of withholding information from police in his roommate's murder investigation was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison on Tuesday.

Cory Young is the first to go to jail and the second to be sentenced for his role in the brutal death of his roommate, Jake Kelly.

Young, 45, pleaded guilty to first-degree hindering prosecution in November. His wife, Shannon Marie Higgins, 38, who also lived with Jake Kelly, pleaded guilty to first-degree hindering prosecution and was sentenced to three years on probation on Dec. 4.

The third person involved, Angel Mullooly, admitted to killing Jake Kelly in text messages obtained by police and is the only one charged with second-degree murder.

68 Peckerwood gang members indicted, 42 in custody, in Southern California on RICO charges related to drug trafficking, firearms, and fraud charges.

Apart from all of that, the Peckerwoods are a neo-nazi gang closely affiliated with the Aryan Brotherhood and well established in the US prison system.

The U.S. Attorney cited one example of one gang member named Ryan Bradford, who was found to be selling drugs and manufacturing explosive devices when he was arrested. A “treasure trove” of white supremacist paraphernalia was also found, Estrada added, including replica Nazi uniforms and posters of Adolf Hitler.

Bradford also allegedly made social media posts indicating he wanted to murder and commit genocide of Jewish people.

“In fact, when we searched his home, we found a notepad that had written as its New Year’s resolution: ‘Bake every single Jew,'” Estrada said. “That’s what this group stands for…that’s what the Peckerwoods are all about.”

On June 22, a group of Aryan Brotherhood of Texas (ABT) members and their friends attacked a mixed race group of family and friends who were out tubing for a birthday party in the Central Texas town of Martindale. Only one of the nazis, 45 y.o. Todd Jeremy Christian, was arrested.

The folks at Bellingcat and the Texas Observer did us all the favor of identifying five of the nazis involved (including Christian).

This is a pretty detailed story and worth reading in full, but for now, here's an excerpt:

The Observer acquired footage of the attack recorded by an eyewitness and verified the Reddit post’s claims with the victims. Video appears to show individuals who were part of the group that included the ABT members or supporters instigating the fight, which lasted approximately two minutes and took place in a part of the San Marcos River that is only a few feet deep. In the footage, apparent perpetrators seem to submerge two of the victims underwater.

The Observer and Bellingcat’s investigation identified the following individuals as having participated in the attack and as being either members or supporters of ABT: Cameron Christopher Gerrow, 30; Todd Jeremy Christian, 45; Thomas Dylan Mashburn, 33; James Edward “Buzz” Turner, 50; and Aubrea Faye Herpeche, 28. The outlets also identified a sixth person who participated in the attack: Angela Danielle Burkham, 42, who associates with ABT members or supporters but has not, within the scope of the outlets’ review, expressed explicit support. Another man and woman pictured in videos and described by witnesses remain unidentified.

Christian, Gerrow, and Mashburn all apparently belong to a motorcycle club affiliated with the ABT, called the “Aryan Brotherhood of Texas Motorcycle Club” (ABTMC), based on public records, tattoos, social media, and other information reviewed for this story.
