One of the things pointed out in the resources linked up thread 👆🏾 is that if *every author eligible* joins the class, that will likely end Anthropic--which is a GOOD THING on a variety of levels: authors get some money, one fewer GenAI/LLMs thieving regurgitron to steal from them.

But it's also good because it will put pressure on all the other GenAI/LLM companies.

So, sleazy lawyers trying to convince authors to opt out feels sus.

The Authors Guild is also warning about people/lawfirms/scammers urging authors to opt out of the settlement, offering to get them $150K per stolen work as opposed to the $3K offered in the settlement.
