Taking the title of "Kapitana" and/or "Tinyenta" in the town of Angono, Rizal, is like being the "Jefa de fiestas" β head of festivities β for one whole year.
Together with their associates β " the Konsehalas"β, the Kapitana and the Tinyenta are to perform various ceremonial and functional duties in different occasions such as town festival, Marian feast days, Christmas celebration & ultimately, during lent.

In the night of Easter Sunday, the "Bunutan" β draw lots β is held to identify the new Tinyenta and Kapitana.
There is a bit of pageantry in this tradition, which is something the townspeople are fond of.
Prominent families in Angono get to send representatives to join the Bunutan.
Ulltimately, this shows the young people's devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The lenten season practices of Angono, Rizal β Philippines β culminating in the celebration of Easter Sunday β "Salubong", are unique and are endemic tradition of the town.
