#SSTuscania, from #Cunard subsidiary #AnchorLine, was torpedoed and sunk on #ThisDayInHistory in 1918 whilst serving as a troopship. She went down between Ireland & Scotland, taking 210 lives. She & her sister Transylvania were the first big Atlantic liners using geared turbines.

A rather wonderful bust of Mercury on the Anchor Line Building on Saint Vincent Place in Glasgow. Amongst other things, Mercury was the Roman god of commerce and travellers, which may explain why he appears twice on this particular building.

The Anchor Line Building on Saint Vincent Place in Glasgow. Designed by James Miller and built in 1906 for the Anchor Line Steamship Company, it's clad not in stone, but in Faience, a type of ceramic tiling.
