The old can factory

The old can factory

RECOLLECTION

After my apartment housewarming party the night before I was very much in need of a recovery day. Instead I went to the Apple Store with my friend Chris to help him pick out a phone. As we returned to my apartment he said I should run down and let Richard in the door. I begged for him to do it (as I needed to use the restroom). He insisted.

When I got to the lobby of the Can Factory, I knew something was up…

SURPRISE!

I was hungover, sweaty and bowled over with delight by the mix of folks from so many eras of life to celebrate my 40th birthday.

I didn’t take any photos, but here are some blurry ones from my brother!

recollections – Chris Glass

I’ve been starting each morning by revisiting this day in the past. I’ll post an unearthed photo on Threads but often fill in the gaps here with other photos and more recollections.

RECOLLECTION

Ordered a bunch of holiday cookies from Take the Cake for an apartment-warming party.

Everything is coming together nicely. I stepped out at some point and looked back up to the windows of my place, glowing up there on the top floor. A wonderful restaurant called Ruth’s Parkside Cafe would fill that large space on the first floor.

The building would fill up with tenants.

I would come to love this apartment.

Eight days after getting the keys, everything is here — just lots of hanging of artwork to do.
