Assassin's Creed: Shadows - Claws of Awaji expansion
Quite a lot of extra game for the £15 I paid for it. Nothing much new apart from traps and ambushes to look out for. A couple of the boss fights were a bit different but I found them a bit tedious rater than excitingly new.
Took the opportunity to revisit the main game and mop up some of the remaining activities like castles.

It occurs to me that #Starfield was like this. You make a character from scratch, and then you do a bunch of stuff, but you’re just a guy. The main questline isn’t about saving the universe; the universe will go on just fine whether you’re there or not. It’s just about exploration, and maybe helping some people out along the way.

I put 1000 hours into that game, just being a guy who helps people. I don’t want a “power fantasy”, I want a “helping fantasy”. 🫂

Absolutely this. Like the author, I bounced off The Witcher 3, despite having *watched* all the Witcher games in playthroughs by a streamer I liked. What draws me to RPGs isn’t the power fantasy, it’s making someone that I’d like to be, and then living their life. Games with pre-made characters — “You get to play as [the very-well-defined] Geralt!” — just don’t do anything for me.

Give me a nobody… but let me make them *my* nobody. That’s what most of life is anyway. 🙂

I am playing and enjoying Aether & Iron. The writing is about as hard-boiled noir as it gets. Which isn't always my particular jam, but I'm digging it here.

Rhiannon Moushall, the VA for the MC, is absolutely nailing the affect.

Aether & Iron on Steam

Immerse yourself in this Decopunk Narrative RPG set in an alternate 1930s where anti-gravitational technology has taken cars, roads, and even New York City into the sky. Muster a crew, master tactical turn-based combat, and unravel the dark secrets lurking beneath the floating metropolis.

Well, this fort isn't going to nite itself.

#ButShouldntBe

Was down a brief but deep hole playing #ThimbleweedPark which husband had thoughtfully bought and installed. So many classic adventure game feels and no surprise, given that Ron Gilbert is project head along with Gary Winnick. It has great humor, occasionally frustrating but ultimately fun puzzles, engaging characters, and jabs at quote-unquote #AI despite being set in 1987.

Fallout: 76
Revisited due to the recent release of the second series. Haven't played in ages as I'm more of single player quest person than multiplayer events. Didn't take long to play through the new quests before it became a bit boring (somewhat like the TV show).

It's also still horribly bug ridden on PS4 but I guess that is t be expected given how old the PS4 is. Played fine on the PS5.

Assassin's Creed: Odyssey (Legacy of the First Blade)
Expansion was reduced to the extremely tempting price of £2.99 so I thought I'd revisit the game. Plenty of missions for the price though the original price of £19.99 would have seemed a bit steep.
Weirdly romance oriented with the main character having a child and a few too many unskippable poignant cut scenes. Kept me entertained for about a week though.

Elite: Dangerous (Horizons)
Tried very hard but I could not get into it at all. Persevered due to memories of playing the original but I found it extremely boring. Gave up totally when I required to find some landmines for someone but after days of trawling and using resource finder websites I came up a total blank.
Nice idea, initially appealing but, getting from A to B took so long I would lose interest in why I was going to B in the first place.

Sniper Elite 4: Italia
Second attempt at getting to grips with this game. First time I found it more difficult than I expected. Persevered this time and I even ended up managing to up the difficulty for a second run through as there isn't much to the campaign.
Refreshingly lenient on the restart point when you die, and no real penalty for dying either.Despite the lack of missions there is a good amount of challenges to keep reruns interesting.
