In the #AlternityRPG #StarDrive setting a galactic circumnavigation gets easier the bigger your ship is (because bigger ships can teleport further), but at the typical technology level it would still take years or decades, and might also need refueling stations.

In #Warhammer40K, you can circumnavigate the galaxy through various means, all of them dangerous and most of them immoral. Just don't visit the Warhammer 40K universe if you can avoid it. It is a grim and dark place.

The fiddly hit point system and armor-as-DR mechanics take getting used to-- but they're a model for how armor can be most useful when the person wearing it needs it the most.
