TIL: the Holocene Era, or Human Era, an alternative to using BC, AD etc. for dates. It's very simple: use the the beginning of the neolithic revolution as a starting point for a truly universal calendar. The conversion is super simple: just add 10'000 to the year of the current calendar year.

So the great pyramid of Giza was completed in 7441 HE, the first moon landing took place in 11969 HE. And human history suddenly looks more like the continuous adventure that it is.
