I think #Alaa was right to disavow and delete some jibes that followed Khaled Said killing etc, but yes context was almost totally absent from the deranged UK shitstorm.
The faux outrage engendered real outrage, apparently to undermine human rights. 'crushing dissent', intimidating those in Europe from the liberty to speak honestly before removing it, is one purpose, but I suspect it's more complicated. Who, why and when were the 286,000 tweets by Alaa dredged through?
In the case of #Alaa, stripping British citizenship would not only be arbitrary punishment and interference in rights based on a few words, it would also help protect authoritarian governments in the Arab world.
The body of Alaa's work is unquestionably anti-racist, so would question which are the racist tweets.
to sign a contract; otherwise, they would have been imprisoned or killed. They were promised that they would not fight, but they were deceived.
As soon as he arrived in #Kupiansk, he immediately fled and surrendered to #Ukrainian soldiers. #Alaa also shared that #Russians treat foreigners disgustingly, and they are often subjected to abuse and beatings.

Alaa Abd el-Fattah is finally free and back home with his family.
Prominent pro-democracy Egyptian-British activist Alaa Abd el-Fattah has reunited with his family after spending years in prison. President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi pardoned him and five others on Monday, following appeals from the National Council for Human Rights. Abd el-Fattah's sister, Sanaa Seif, expressed relief Tuesday at his release. His mother, Laila Soueif, had previously gone on a hunger strike as part of the family's international campaign that advocated for his release. The family is now adjusting to his freedom, with plans to resume their lives.
Many other thinkers would agree with Tesla. Even if there is a technological equivalent of 'ars grata artis', the current race to the bottom means at least that technical innovation needs democratic control.
#Alaa recognises the value of Luddites.

You can be a Luddite geek.
In 2008, I was running the Hub, the “world’s first #humanrights video site”, and I had the great fortune to meet and speak with both Wael Abbas and #Alaa Abd El-Fattah, whose work exposing police brutality in #Egypt had caused absolute shockwaves. #FreeAlaa
Here’s a brief extract on Wael’s YT channel, with Alaa closing it out from 4 mins (I’ll see if I can find the original files with the whole interview w Wael and Alaa):
