I think this is essentially the last thing I will say on this topic. I'm frankly getting tired of the debate and may start liberally muting some of the main keywords to not have to see it anymore, BUT:

#AI CAN work for some people, and allow for breaking a shit ton of barriers that, let's be real, otherwise might never actually be broken, becauseagain frankly, nobody who can break them cares enough. Mostly referring to #accessibility barriers, and mostly referring to people who actually FACE these barriers fixing them. A big FU for so-called accessibility solutions that really just are #accessiBe v2.0 and act as a cop-out for companies to not have to care.

That is NOT a good thing. That is the result of decades of neglect forcing people into the mindset that this planet-destroying technology is the only way forward for them, because humans sure as fuck aren't going to help out.
Irrespective of ethics, and believe me I SEE the ethical quandary, this is what it has come to.

Just ran in to a website Scottevest using that piece of shit #AccessIBE and how odd their piece of shit overlay makes the site completely unusable with a screen reader. How the hell does this company get away with staying in business.

Comment on my site demonstrating deep understanding of a post and a genuine desire to engage:

“Appreciate this write-up on #accessiBe Will Get You Sued. Your explanation around accessibe is concise, and the discussion of sued adds strong context.”

Reminded someone that not only did #accessiBe’s overlay not help a site, it may have been a factor in the lawsuit against that site (PDF):

Paragraph 45 also takes a shot at #UserWay and #AudioEye.

Woof. 5 years since I kicked off my “[overlay] Will Get You Sued” series, which helped lead to a million dollar fine earlier this year by the FTC against accessiBe for its constant lies.

Yes, I’m taking some credit for that.

On this day in 2020, @aardrian.bsky.social wrote about how #accessiBe will get you sued. He detailed how it's inaccessible, the many lawsuits that they're named in, how they pays for praise, disable automated a11y checkers, misrepresent the ADA, don't understand WCAG, and much more. https://adrianroselli.com/2020/06/accessibe-will-get-you-sued.html

"FTC Approves Final Order Requiring accessiBe to pay $1 Million"

That’s a big news. Overlays are bullshit. WCAG must be implemented in source code, not with that kind of magic tools.

Next, some French companies selling such unefficient tools too?

I also updated my 23,297 word post (which I expect nobody to read and lives on mostly as a testament to accessiBe’s hubris and illegal actions) “#accessiBe Will Get You Sued” (anchor link):

#accessiBe Will Get You Sued

Disclaimer: This post and the headline is my opinion. I provide facts throughout to inform that opinion. I say this because accessiBe managed to get $40 million in two rounds of funding from K1 Capital and I am guessing some of that money will be allocated to attorney fees. I…
