@GhostOnTheHalfShell

I do not.

But I think this might help fedi because it will increase the demand to know where AI content originated, and only fedi allows content to be #APnative.

on the corporate platforms, an "official" account is hard to prove. it's still just an account on their servers.

but on fedi, the account could (should) be on its own servers and we can both see who boosted it and never have it just spread by algos. the entire path towards virality is accountable.

@ben

sure but people don't even get social media, which is why they're leaving for group chats etc.

and current lock-in prevents us from selling our product. "come on over and hang out with none of the people you currently get to..." decentralization can prevent that in the future but you can't sell that (except if people could switch en masse).

imo our killer app is still in the making. letting creatives run their own site and have their work be #APnative. then their fans follow them here.

@glecharles

mostly blogs became newsletters and blogrolls became social media. the centralization and corporations made it all less cool but that's changing. our big hurdle is still making the money flow directly and automatically from readers to writers. also need to turn the writing/reading (TTS) experience into more of an open ecosystem like podcasting. lots of creator tools, lots of reading apps. an understood interface format.

[WP articles are #APnative and can thus be directly boosted.]

Write an article on your own site. Or post a podcast episode, song or video there.

The thing itself, not another post you create linking to it, should automatically then show up on social media, for your followers to boost and have go viral. All the interaction visible in one place. Quote boosts should work with this too. Same with lemmy style commentary.

Isn't that our killer app?

#Wordpress already does this. I wish everybody else was working on it.

#SocialWeb #APnative #DemocracyOfReach

I wanted to instead boost this episode directly (had it been #APnative) or boost a post linking to it from any of the three main participants. Couldn't find one but maybe that's cause I'm a week late.

How Social Media Platforms Use Regulation To Stifle Competition

Are we regulating the wrong tech problems? Many opponents of Big Tech cheered recent lawsuits that found Meta and YouTube liable for violating consumer protection laws and designing their products to…

Pocket Casts

@ben

it's progress but I'm not sure it's the model I want to see win. what others call microblogging is imo a social news feed. our open graph. I want to be able to plug that into my podcatcher but also a reader app and video player. everybody publishing everything as #APnative so that the work itself can be boosted and go viral, and have comments and favorites attached. WP does this now, not sure anybody else does. and we don't have any apps/players embracing the vision yet afaik.

@quillmatiq.com

we've gotta flesh out the decentralized ecosystem in order to better compete. make the content #APnative, build more reader apps, figure out direct and automatic funding.

@WordPress

so could they be more fedi supportive? make their articles #APnative? I follow this account: @theintercept

In the video in the post I just boosted, @anildash says #Substack is now boiling the frog in a slow move from email towards lock-in. And of course they work with Nazis etc.

What we need is an effort between newsletter publishers like #Ghost #WordPress etc and reader apps like @wallabag to build an ecosystem like podcasting. To make it smooth while remaining totally open. I'd argue for using #ActivityPub in addition to RSS to support boosts. Then we need decentralized money.

#APnative

@thisisfranciswu

I use @wallabag for that now. It's great. It doesn't require kicking the audio out to a podcatcher.

Instead of RSS, I'd like to see integration with #ActivityPub. Allowing us to bookmark it here and have it show up in the reader queue. And have the reader let us boost it and favorite and reply from there. And show us the most popular articles with the people we follow.

imo we need a reader ecosystem like we have a podcast ecosystem today. we need #APnative articles.
