The band from Portugal are one of the hottest talents in Black Metal today. This album has been on heavy rotation since it was released.

2nd on my top 25 albums list is Ecstasies of Neverending Night by Devil Master
Glorious spooky mix of black metal, punk and goth that adds up to a tremendous album. It's melodic, it's brawny and it's more than a little bit camp.
Day 23
3rd on my top 25 albums list is Close by Messa
A raw and powerful piece of stripped back ambient sludgy doom from Italy. It's permeated by musical influences from Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cultures with sultry haunting vocals.

4th on my top 25 albums list is Marter by Firtan
One of those albums where it was love at first listen. This is German pagan black metal with exquisite riffs and poetic lyrics conjurer a gorgeous atmosphere that kept me coming back.

5th on my top 25 albums list is Rakshak by Bloodywood
I've been following these guys for a few years their debut album was highly anticipated by me. Mixing nu metal with traditional Indian folk music styles and instruments. They probably (definitely are) the most accessible band on the list.

6th on my top 25 albums list is Carnage Funeral by Bonecarver
Madrid based death metal that blast you with devastating barbaric vocals, relentless drumming and belligerent riffage to make you void your bowel.

This Belgian trio create their own brand of post hardcore that defies convention and labelling. It makes for a brutal but beautiful visceral listening experience.

8th on my top 25 albums list is Hiss by Wormrot
The Singaporean grindcore outfit certainly provide the listener with value for money. Across the 21 songs on the album there are vicious riffs, guttural vocals and puverising blast beats.

9th on my top 25 albums list is Blackbraid I by Blackbraid
Atmospheric black metal with lyrical themes based on native American mythology. This one man project is drenched in sorrow and is driven throughout by fierce guitars.

Danish death doom with riffs as sharp as an eagles talons and heavier than a portly polar bear.
Adam Saunders
