"The increase in memory prices means entry phones will become more expensive, but premium devices are likely to go up less," he said. As a result, the price advantage enjoyed by budget smartphones will shrink, leading some buyers to move upmarket while others will simply hold off purchasing.

@kboyd I've been telling YouTube to stop suggesting any channel I think contains AI content.

One way to tell is if the channel has repetitive scripts read by someone you never see, relatively generic video clips (including stock footage), and more than 3 new videos a week. There's no way a real person could churn out that much content. This is #AISlop.

I just shared a link to an article on SF Gate that explains how bad #AI is for us and gives plenty of examples. In my toot, I also mentioned that the spoken version of that article, was, ironically, created with the use of a generated AI voice.

Digging deeper into the SF Gate website, I come to learn that the newspaper uses AI in the generation of its content. https://www.sfgate.com/ai_use/

So now I'm wondering how reliable anything on SF Gate is.๐Ÿค”

@arstechnica Because AI cannot get better. Why are you still writing articles that seem to support a future for AI? Let it go. #AIRuinsEverything

"Still, some device manufacturers have found ways to entice consumers to ditch their older phones for newer ones. For instance, Apple just had one of its most successful new launches with the iPhone 17, and artificial intelligence could be a game-changer."

In my world, #AI is a primary reason to KEEP my old phone. #AIRuinsEverything

@arstechnica I tell you this: I will not watch any video that features an AI actor or AI generated script. (I'm still on the fence about AI generated narration because I recognize that it makes it possible for the creator to narrate in multiple languages.) If a YouTube channel presents even one AI slop video, I tell YouTube to stop recommending the channel. I have zero tolerance for this shit and don't understand why we don't all feel the same way. #StopAISlop #AIRuinsEverything
I really think that Apple's dictation feature would work a lot better if it just listened to what we are actually saying and transcribed it instead of trying to guess that we're saying something else. #AIRuinsEverything
@jimbob @lennart I hate what they did to Office. It breaks my heart. I've been using that software since 1990 and it was very painful to abandon it for Libre Office, which does the job, but just differently enough to frustrate the hell out of me. #Microsoft #AI #AIRuinsEverything
Sigh. It just seems like at every turn that AI integration is ruining every software feature, program, or app that I touch. Right now I'm trying to use Google visual search to find ANYTHING about a "pop-up" toy with a molded human head on top. It REFUSES to believe that it isn't a person to search for, not an object, and is VERY helpful in doing what I don't want, and NOTHING else...
