It’s the final day of #AHG24, with one session by Dax Castro on things screen readers find that accessibility checkers don’t, and one by Bevi Chagnon on PPT accessibility.

Meanwhile, I’ve had almost as many conversations about my shirts as I have about accessible technology! 😂

In a round table discussion on accessibility in social media, and got noted by one of the other participants as the only person posting about #AHG24 on BlueSky! 😳😂

Does this mean I’m famous now?

“What we have are a few people who know a lot about accessibility. What we need are a lot of people to know a little about it.”

— Matt May, as quoted by WebAIM’s Rob Carr in his #AHG24 session

My morning #AHG24 session was on accessibility in Word. Honestly knew most of what was presented here, but did pick up a few things. Good to sit in on other trainings, even for stuff I know, to see how other people present and think about how I might want to tweak my presentations.
Now that the pre-conference all-day sessions are done, I’m running into the double-edged sword of a good conference: five sessions in the same block that look interesting. Which to choose? Can’t attend ‘em all! I need clones. #AHG24
Excellent #AHG24 keynote by @TotallyNormalAshleyShew (bsky) on cyborg concerns and technoableism. Deeply serious, but also frequently quite (darkly) funny. And I have another book on my to-read pile!
Really thinking that a lot of the presenters at #AHG24 should be invited to Association of University Presses’ events to address the university press community. So many presses are having more and more conversations around producing #BornAccessible content #AUP #A11y #accessibility
Attending Accessing Higher Ground this year and currently sitting in on a session being given by Bevi Chagnon of PubCom.com and learning very interestin ways on how best to export accessible PDFs out of InDesign #a11y #ahg24
Today at #AHG24: A full-day session on creating accessible PDFs in InDesign. A bit of a refresher for me, but a good one to have since I’m not so much a designer, but do need to help train those who are on the accessibility features and techniques.
Day 1 of #AHG24 is done! Really good session on accessibility testing; more high-level thinking on planning and organizing what needs to be done than “how to” specifics, but lots of good Q&A and conversations throughout, and took lots of notes. Definitely worthwhile.
