Alright. I've put this off long enough. It's been like six months since I finished my re-read of #AFeastForCrows. I'm not going to out-wait George so...
Time to jump into my re-read of #ADanceWithDragons.
Finished #AFeastForCrows this morning.
There's nothing on the docket from a videogame perspective, not even anything I want to cram in before the GOTY stuff...
You know what that means?
So I read the final #Brienne chapter of #AFeastForCrows last night. It's a fine chapter, and I can see why the fandom has been tying itself into knots over it's ending for the last...19 years.
That said...I absolutely hate how it wraps up. I'm not an author, and I don't want to sound like I'm telling George how to write but 'a word' just doesn't feel right you know?
I'm very quickly working my way through the final chapters of #AFeastForCrows and I'll admit that I was very harsh on this book the first time through.
I think (when compared) to #AStormOfSwords it is a much slower book, but I'm really enjoying that pacing and the slower read this time out.
I'm enjoying #AFeastForCrows significantly more on the second read to be honest.
It's probably a combination of things; I'm much more steeped in this world than I was upon my first read, and this book is a relatively slow burn that massively expands the scope of the series with lore and histories and the like.
I'm also not reading the entire series in a six month window, which was kind of exhausting.
Nothing immediately on my ledger so I think I'm going to dive back into my #ASOIAF re-read with #AFeastForCrows.
This is book 4/5. When I started the re-read some 15 months ago I had some very slim hope that book 6 would be out during my run.
....yeah I don't think that's happening. George being too busy writing literally everything else I guess.
Something something journey is the reward.
