Do you think this movie influenced Ghibli when the made Spirited Away? There are some _slight_ similarities...

Heh. I paused to comment on the computer graphics - it certainly has evolved since 1997, but I can't get over Lan's OTT goofed up face. If subtle means 'under tle' in C-drama, the word doesn't even exist in donghua. At least not in this production. We're clearly in for a treat!

For a few days I'll watch through "A Chinese Ghost Story" from 1997. Despite the title being only _slightly_ more specific than "It" it refers to a specific story, a folktale about the scholar Lan and the ghost heroine Nie Xiaoqien. @accentedcinema just made an episode about its different adaptations - worth watching!
