Edna Andrade (1917-2008) was one of the early practitioners of "Op art" (Optical art, or art employing optical illusions; this was typically related to distorted abstract geometrical patterns as opposed to older trompe l'oeil (fool the eye) work that was representational as opposed to abstract.)
