You may be cool but you’re nowhere as cool as this dude playin bass for one of the better 80s tunes. He rocks it in a John Entwistle kinda way. 😎

Fall color, some hot tea in one of my favorite mugs purchased in 2008 at the first Starbucks store when I was in Seattle just before shipping out for my deployment to U.S. Naval Station Guantanamo Bay and, of course, tuneage this sunny late October Sunday afternoon on deck.

The Monday nighty night ear worm is a beautiful late 80s cover of a 60s Velvet Underground tune.

Anyone who's ever had a dream
Anyone who's ever played a part
Anyone who's ever been lonely
And anyone who's ever split apart
Acorns falling from a tree over the house rolling off the roof and onto the deck on one helluva beautiful Saturday night up nort’ The mind wanders.

She'll be my mirror
Reflect what I am
Loser and winner
The king of Siam
And my Siamese twin
Alone in the river
Mirror kisses
Mirror kisses
Lips Like Sugar

The “live” selection here on deck this evening: somewhere in my stuff are a few VHS tapes containing virtually the entire Live Aid concerts from 1985 that include the performances at Wembley in London, Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia and before all that, in Australia. One of my favorite renditions from the Australian portion is this one from INXS.

Took a ride
I went downtown
The streets were empty
There was no one around
To a place that we used to know
Been all the places that we used to go
I'm at the wrong end of your looking glass
Just trying to hold on to the hands of the past and you
And there was nothing left to bring me back
I was A Million Miles Away
Once upon a time (1983), I was introduced to The Plimsouls via that classic (?) Nic Cage flick “Valley Girl.” They were playing in a bar in a couple scenes. Then I picked up the album this tune is on at a record store on Hennepin in Minneapolis that summer.
