🧵 4/n turns out, using #Steam (native, no Flatpack/Snap) and #Proton, i'm enabled to install #3Dmark on my #Manjaro #Linux box.

3D Mark actually starts, BUT it fails to run any #Benchmark. Also, it seems to leave my box in a "weird state" - reboot fixed it.

So NO, you cannot run 3D Mark on Linux, conveniently via Steam+Proton, afaik.

If you want to benchmark different Proton variants, like the v4 from #CachyOS, you SHOULD use in-game benchmark facilities.

Turns out, you CAN install #3DMark on #Linux, via #Steam!

The trick; compatibility setting!
You MUST enable ANY kind of #Proton, so that the "Install" button gets enabled.

I'll try cachyos-proton, the recent release.

Also, turns out, i CAN run the special optimised V4 variant, on vanilla #Manjaro! I don't HAVE to run the #CachyOS V4 kernel, in order to use their V4 flavour of #Proton - seems to run just fine on my box (Zen4+RDNA4).

But now, i want to benchmark generic Proton vs their V4!

I've already checked out the hardware of the CHUWI CoreBook Air Plus 16 laptop in the first part of the review, so today, I'll report my experience using the AMD Ryzen 5 6600H laptop with the pre-installed Windows 11 Pro operating system. We'll start with a software overview and a test of key features, followed by benchmarking, evaluation of WiFi 6 performance, and measurement of fan noise, power consumption, and battery life. Software Overview and Features Testing The CoreBook Air Plus 16 ships with Windows 11 Pro 64-bit 24H2 operating system, upgraded to the 25H2 version after running Windows updates. Running through an extensive DirectX 12 stress test after installing a few upgraded components and some better cooling fans in my gaming PC. I still remember a time when 3DMark looked A LOT simpler than this. Holy cow of 3D acceleration!
