very pleased to have got the little retention post at the blank end of the power supply (on the right front corner) pretty much exactly right the first try ^_^

the dowel in back (slightly visible here, more visible on the other side) is the other retention clip.

anyway the switch LED is powered by actual DC power out, the switch controls AC power in so the power supply is completely actually off when it's in "off" position, not just in standby or something. (It uses like 1.4 watts in standby so it's not like it's a lot, but why use any when you don't have to?)

4 hours in, I may have picked the wrong supports. *sigh* #3Dpriting

I am super satisfied at this print quality in PETG no less.

This was printed vertical on purpose as it will be part of a larger assembly and I wanted to know how it would come out. I gave a .3mm vs a .2mm spacer between the supports and the object and they just came right off but looking at the bridge I wonder if it's touched at all 😂

All successful! so on to something more ambitious...

We ran a few tests and for this part it seems a raft of at least 2 layers works best.

- Raft of 1 layer (2mm) not pictured as it failed

First photo bottom to top
- Raft of 2 layers
- Raft of 3 layers
- Raft of 4 layers

They're all great - also not too much material

Second photo is a brim experiment, it also printed great but they have these sharp corners now which are rough to get off. And since I have a lot of them this is a no go.

that moment you realise your rotated geometry for the adaptor works okay for the accessories _you_ cared about...

...but NOT with ALL of the accessories, and most importantly, none of the (relatively few) that are involved with the honeycomb system's very small shelves.

(also not the keyboard holders but that's not an issue, these adapters are too small for that.)

and i mean nobody's going to want those shelves I THINK because my system's shelves are better and stronger but

_shit should still work_.

anyway

alpha test of a _purely standard_ geometry honeycomb system adaptor uploaded. I'm printing the first actual test object overnight. i'm 99% sure it'll be good.

goddammit

Adding things during a print pause is truly a genius idea. I didn't think of putting a layer of fabric/tulle in between, but this here opens up a whole new section of #3Dpriting use cases:
