Day 50 - Giant Redwood

Taking a photo of a different tree each day for #31Trunks on my walks until I don't ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Well I think that's it. 50 days and 50 different trees I can see on walks from my house. So many great trees I didn't know were here before I started this. Today I thought I'd finish on a big one, the largest tree on earth, the giant redwood, it's just the other side of the road from the chippy. Seems a good tree to end on.

18/09/2025 - Henry's Lime. This isn't a tree I can include in my tree a day list, #31Trunks, as that's just trees round where I live and this one is in town. I still had to take a photo though as I love its leaves.

Evening walk after work to look for trees. Today's is a big old noble fir. First time I've ever seen a cone on the ground for this one, a top find. I'm a big fan of noble firs.

Day 48 - Hawthorn

Taking a photo of a different tree each day for #31Trunks on my walks until I don't ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Got home after a day at work a bit tired. It had been grey clouds and fine rain most of the day. I wasn't much in the mood for a walk but we headed out anyway. Today's tree is hawthorn. As we approached, the grey skies left and the sunshine shone on the tree and its lovely red berries. It felt like the tree had been waiting for us to say hello. Just magic.

Evening walk up the hill after work. Today's tree is a grand fir. Not that common on the hill so nice to come across. The trunk is very straight up with no messing around.

Lunchtime walk to find a tree. Not far but it was good to get away from the laptop and work for a bit. Today's tree is a hybrid black-poplar. A common amenity tree planted in parks etc. They can grow 1.5m annually. There's 3 big ones near me round 30m tall. They are a lovely looking big trees.

Day 43 - Norway Spruce

Taking a photo of a different tree each day on my walks until I don't ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Day off work and another nice day spent looking at trees. Today it was conifers. They make my head hurt, there's just so many. Not easy round here to find an oldish Norway spruce to photo. Most are forestry and planted close together so this one was very nice to come across.

Day 42 - Hiba

Taking a photo of a different tree each day on my walks until I don't ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

My tree for today was going to be a big noble fir but my SD card in my camera stopped working on the way to the tree. A quick change of plan and Mrs Spaceways coming to the rescue with their phone so I could still take a photo (I rarely have my phone with me). We headed instead to the land of random conifers in the industrial estate and this cypress, a lovely hiba.
