@TonyStark @wsrphoto President Biden's readiness to negotiate with the House's majority Insurrection Caucus was admittedly an an admirable act of kindness, even though not really necessary.

The federal debt ceiling "is an insult to good governance, and negotiating over it only encourages the most nihilistic and ruthless forces in government."

Biden Should Not Cave to the Republican Hostage-Takers

Asserting the power to nullify the debt limit by using the 14th Amendment power or minting a trillion-dollar coin must be kept on the table.

@StevenBeschloss Wouldn't it be time to treat the Rebellicans the way the law requires?

"Whoever incites, sets on foot, assists, or engages in any ***rebellion or insurrection against the authority of the United States or the laws thereof***, or gives aid or comfort thereto, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both;  and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States."

— 18 U.S.C. § 2383 —

"Section 4. The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned."

— Fourteenth Amendment, Section 4, *Validity of public debt* —
