PSA to y'all #IRC users: the latest release of #Halloy supports more #IRCv3 specs! Including `typing` (now on @liberachat too), and `+draft/react` & `draft/multiline` on servers that support (ergo.chat) them!

It's been very pleasant to use Halloy for IRC, so many nice quality-of-life features 🫶

Given the ZX81 anniversary, I'll re-up my least popular blog post from last year, Sinclair 4K BASIC for the ZX80: https://troypress.com/sinclair-4k-basic-for-the-zx80/ #ZX81 #ZX80 #retrocomputing #BASIC
Sinclair 4K BASIC for the ZX80

In my study of Tiny BASICs, one I overlooked reviewing was Sinclair 4K BASIC, which stands out for its unique keyboard, its approach to graphics, and its memory usage.

@ComicContext What does "DC" mean here?
@dbdii407 Since you mention IRC v3, you might be thinking of Goguma. It provides a nice modern chat experience by taking advantage of v3 features like chathistory, webpush and filehost. You need a v3 capable server (Ergo) or bouncer (Soju) to take full advantage.

@swetland I think I can go more controversial: While mini is not great and I am not shedding any tears for it, it is not the worst thing in the world. Especially if you are coming from DIN, PS/2, and RS-232.

I have a bigger problem with micro: it shouldn't have existed. It's not even clearly better than mini and it gave us a needless migration cycle and connector ambiguity. We should have put up with mini for a few more years and then gone directly to C.

@d_run Depending on your interpretation of that, there is a Mastodon plugin for Bitlbee that lets you use your favorite IRC client to follow timelines and to post:

@neatnik Oops meant that for another thread but I guess it works here too!
Agreed about Goguma, that's what we use on mobile on my private server. Combined with Ergo's always-on feature and the push-notification and image/audio/file share support it's a first class modern chat experience.
@scott To take advantage of the IRCv3 support in Ergo: Halloy for GUI and Senpai for terminal.
