People old enough to remember the Sinclair Research advertising from 1980 that a #ZX80 could run a power station, will not need to watch #ScottManley's latest, as they already know the answer. (-:

Yes, I too remember it as a nuclear power station. But I've just found a picture of someone with one of the contemporary computer magazines showing the advertisement, and #SinclairResearch never actually said what sort of power station in the advertising copy. Apparently, that's something that we collectively added to the mythology.

Given the ZX81 anniversary, I'll re-up my least popular blog post from last year, Sinclair 4K BASIC for the ZX80: https://troypress.com/sinclair-4k-basic-for-the-zx80/ #ZX81 #ZX80 #retrocomputing #BASIC
Sinclair 4K BASIC for the ZX80

In my study of Tiny BASICs, one I overlooked reviewing was Sinclair 4K BASIC, which stands out for its unique keyboard, its approach to graphics, and its memory usage.

It was on this day, back in 1980, that the #Sinclair #ZX80 was launched. It did, in a very real sense, launch the home computer boom in the UK.

Forty-six years ago today, Clive Sinclair announced the ZX80. Thanks in no small part to an ocean between us and Cambridge, we didn’t have one until much later in 1980.

My dad loved hacking and souping up his ZX80. Through hindsight and the lens of my being a father, I understand that he got even more enjoyment by sharing it and standing back to see what I did.

Thanks for your amazing little white box, Sir Clive. And for the wonderful memories, Dad.
