when we changed computers, our backups turned out to be kinda messed up. we got the most necessary stuff out, but then our old computer actually died the other day and it's like oh okay, no more fixing it.
then we realized we weren't sure if we'd backed up our NOVELLAS!!!!!! ahh!!!!!!!!!
we don't have the finished one's scrivener files anymore, but the google doc had the most updated version anyway, and we found the current project's draft all okay. phewwwww
had to update jyliet's pronouns and used our friend juice's cool mixed pronoun annotation system! check out our friend meowster explaining it if you're also a multiple-pronoun-user :)

there's an anti-AI art post that's going around that says that people on artstation are adding "no AI" logos to their art and the logos are now appearing in people's image generations, making them upset.
that's false information. that's not how the tech works.
we're blocking anyone who talks about AI art without a CW at this point. here is Better than twitter, there IS room for talking and there IS room for nuance, but the vitriol of the Idea of AI art obscures a LOT of the actual issues with the existing AI art landscape, and it's tiresome.
husband just had a four hour long violent panic attack because he likes AI art visually, uses it on his personal website, and uses it as a creative tool within his own artistic process. but now he's deleting his socials because he's terrified people will assume he's a terrible bad person because he likes AI art. fuck that!
no one's arguing the ethical issues. there are many. they are huge. we should start over. i would LOVE to start over. let's MAKE ethically sourced data sets. make our own generator with only material that's opt-in! let's stick to THESE issues which are the big ones.
because if OpenAI is destroyed and the smoke clears and no one can sell or use AI art commercially.... we'll be left with the silly issues. "AI isn't creative" and "AI art is just pushing a button" are too reductive to be meaningful. AI is a tool. like a Camera, which you "just push a button" on. but people are pretty sure photography is art. there's LOTS of ways you can use both of those tools creatively. =-=
