@al_w @chris @Brian @clifff thanks for the recs! While I was in Huntsville for Phish the YouTube algorithm worked its magic and suggested I watch their cover of “Bad Side of the Moon” and I had an “oh shit what have I been missing” moment
Seems like a good day to get into #Eggy
I’ve heard a handful of jams and loved them all, but I could go for a deep dive. Should I start with this Spring Tour Selects album or are there any noteworthy jams/shows that I can’t afford to miss?
Favorite album by my favorite (pre-Phish) band came in the mail today. Taylor Goldsmith is one of the best songwriters around. Can’t recommend Dawes enough.
@LostReflector I’ve never used it but I’ve heard good things about Appointment Scanner for this exact problem
@deadbeef if you mostly listen through a phone or by using Bluetooth, then HiFi is definitely not worth it, as you won’t be able to tell the difference. If you listen with an external DAC/amp and high quality wired headphones, then you can tell the difference and it’s worth trying out to see what you think.
@deadbeef 12/16/99 is my most played Tweezer and probably my personal favorite, followed by the epic Nassau Tweezer on 2/28/03. Both of those are on LivePhish. Bozeman 94, Mud Island 95, Auburn Hills 97, and Tahoe 13 are others that come to mind. Exploring the jam chart is definitely a good way to find your favorites.
@richkny @deadbeef cut to me talking to some clueless kid in a dead t-shirt about scarlet fire as they slowly back away
@deadbeef no time for that gatekeeping bullshit. I’ll continue to wear my Winter 99 tour shirt because of my love for 12/11/99, despite the fact that I was in elementary school and listening to boy bands at the time. It makes me happy and that’s all that matters.
@chopaganda as someone who also enjoys jam band rankings, I’m curious to know what your top jams of the tour are so far.
@drewphish I tend not to love jams that are constantly shifting to new ideas and are all over the place. But this Ruby Waves took me out of the “is this good or not” headspace and left me in a state of awe and euphoric joy. Out on the lawn, tears were shed and high fives exchanged with nearby strangers turned friends. That’s when you know it’s good.
