I am begging writers & writing-related-workers of all kinds—but especially people working in journalism and blogs—to stop using ā€œAI artā€ to accompany your writing.

Please have solidarity with your fellow creative workers šŸ’œ

In #photography, lenses are often advertised with a specific focal length (24 mm, 50 mm, …). Since this is dependent on in the camera’s sensor size and doesn't work well with cropping, I have been thinking about a different notation.

Here, I propose the Ļ€/# notation (Ļ€/2.1, Ļ€/3.8, …) that is more image-centric and independent of camera systems. Let me know what you think:

Angle of view: π/#

A sensor-independent notation for the frame of an image.

So at least in the current beta, Tahoe doesn’t put custom icons in squircle jail or apply the glass effect so it’s still possible to get the classics back!
Is the toolbar customization for UINavigationBar gone in iPadOS 26? So far I haven’t gotten it to work in the simulator, but if anyone has the beta on a real device please let me know (Notes has/had it). Really getting tired of fixing the iPad toolbars & sidebars every year…
Just stumbled across this screenshot of an old tweet from @marcoarment which couldn’t have aged better

Borrowed the family’s new-ish GoPro and to my surprise, the RAW photos are actually pretty solid! Compared to the videos, the photos were always rather bad on past models, but it seems like they’ve done loads to improve the quality.

I wrote down some personal reflections on Apple's new design language, the iOS 7 transition, and more: https://www.jonmsterling.com/01BX/
How does Apple expect all the cross-platform apps to adopt that stuff? Some frameworks are backed by UIKit views but lots (like Flutter) draw directly on the screen. Reimplementing that glass stuff is going to be so much harder than even simple blurs
Unlike five years ago, I’ll try my best not to completely loose it when they show the new Mac interface šŸ«
