@tdietterich @hoco There is unfortunately no obvious solution that doesn't cause greater harm than good. It's in much the same category as "Internet voting", which cannot be accomplished without enormous risk to the political system. These areas have all been studied for decades, and key aspects have remained intractable. There are various essays and columns of mine and others covering various of these issues over the years, though I do not have a concise bibliography since there is so much stuff over such a long period of time.

For anyone posting today who needs to hear it, trans is a descriptor.

Short woman = woman who is short
Funny woman = woman who is funny
Trans woman = woman who is trans

There is no difference, trans woman is just a type of woman regardless of how well she passes for cis, how much or how little she's done to make her body match who she is, or how cishet society insists she think of herself.

Honestly the British media is the greatest enemy of democracy we have. Austerity only happens because they support it. The Tory Party only exist because they support it. Blair only got in, and Corbyn didn't, because the Mail and the Sun decided it should be so. The British media needs to fall or we're doomed.

I’ve always been a chronic fidget with terrible posture…but I’ve never suffered from back ache (touchwood) and now I know why…

Is good posture overrated? Back to first principles on back pain

For ages, bad posture has been assumed to cause back pain. Now some physiotherapists are rethinking what we should be doing with our spines

One of his most famous arguments was with Florence Nightingale herself during the Crimean War. When writing about it, years later, Nightingale doesn't specify the cause of the argument, but Barry lived rent-free in her head following it.

Barry's patients loved him, though. As well as being a talented physician and surgeon, he reputedly had a good bedside manner.

If someone gave you $1,000 every single day and you never spent a cent, it would take you 3 years to save a million.

If you wanted to save up a billion, you’d be waiting 2,740 years.

No one needs that much money. Especially when there's people using gofundme for healthcare.

Physicians in the 19th century were aware of CAIS; the first case report was published in 1817. It became more widely known and better-understood in the mid twentieth century.

The correct takeaway for Labour re Uxbridge is that the Conservatives cynically exploited ULEZ, a policy they started, a policy to save lives, a policy that impacts a tiny number of polluting vehicles for gain and Labour's campaign failed to point this out.

Labour need to understand, the Conservatives will do anything, lie, cheat and more to win.

Labour need to be robust in calling out the lies and support policies that improve the environment and save lives.

The #Uxbridge #Byelection has shown the Tories how well Climate Culiture War tactics can work: spreading #Misinformation about #ULEZ, branding #Labour “the political wing of Just Stop Oil”.

I expect the Tories will go for this full-on in the next elections, & the earlier we recognise & mobilise against this the better. Even if they lose these narratives are incredibly harmful #GTTO #ULEZ

As Labour loses Uxbridge over Ulez, what now for the party’s green policies?

Insiders allege the Tories fought a ‘dirty tricks’ campaign to secure the west London seat, and some fear Starmer will pull back on climate crisis measures to win the culture war
