The robot picked through the boxes of old cables and converters at the market stall.
"Looking for anything in particular?"
"A... special charger adapter."
A bag from under the counter. The robot looked inside. Kettle lead to robot charge port. Untracked charging.

Almost two decades ago, Soeren, Mikio, and myself advocated for #opensource software in #machinelearning. We got lucky that the community was ready to transition away from closed source languages, and had the support of many senior people in the field who amplified our voices.
I wonder who is agitating right now for open infrastructure in artificial intelligence?

So in this weekend's vibe coding fiasco whereby replit deletes a production database, again, generating code isn't the hard part..
Even if these tools get better at automating version control and some sort of dev / prod situation (if for no other reason than managing legal risk) the reality of developing and releasing software in a safe, reliable way introduces orders of magnitude more complexity than can imo be supported by the user interfaces these platforms expose

1973: US Govt helps install Chilean dictator Pinochet
1987: Luis Leon survives torture at hands of Pinochet, escapes to USA, receives asylum
2025: ICE disappears Leon (now 82), lies to family that he's dead, he's actually in a Guatemalan hospital
He did everything right and legal, and ICE disappears him anyway. This is fascism through and through and anyone who supports this is complicit.
