@wentha If you do care about most of their posts, maybe send a private message and ask them if they could use a hash tag on the cat pics ones -- so you can filter them?
Or suggest they join the wonderful CatGram.jp -- a cat lover's instance, where nobody complains someone posted too many cat pics.
That was my solution, even before I debanded from that previous instance. There I restrained and tried to limit Cat pics to mayb 5 or 6 in a sitting.
Easy to fill, as I get tons of great cat photos on my twitter account. Cat accounts there are a strong group, and I follow many. Much better than the politics ones, for sure. 👍😜🐈👌
@wentha The filters work on text, and would not stop or look at images. So, only way to stop them is either if a text is present and can be filtered; or to mute the offender's account.
There's quite a number of accounts I have muted lately, one of the perks of not being a mod anymore and having to see EVERY post made on an instance. (like I did in my previous posting elsewhere)
LOL, so I have a growing number of muted ones here if their content is not to my liking.
@wentha In Mastodon Settings, there is the option of creating 'Filters'.
A good keyword to use is possibly one of the hashtags typically used by people posting.
I Had a public service announcement with details of that, specifically for people who followed my account at another instance, and were not interested in cats.
I suggested filtering these tags, which I usually included:

I did respond to them also, and made the typo fixes you suggested, thank you.
I don't think there's a problem in messaging from the Friendica instance to m.s -- the crux seems to be the zotum hub.
I did not receive any messages I sent to myself, either here or at m.s .
Do you have the ActivityPub add-on installed in your Zotum account? I think it's needed before you can connect to the Fedi instances with the AP protocol, for messages.
The system there seemed nice, but this is strange, isn't it?
Masto.pt with the 500 chars maximum toot is a pity, I can't really use an instance with that low limit.
