@rcade it has one ten of thousands, sure but it’s still about 6x the size of tilde.zone.

In the end I may find that indieweb is the sweet-spot size but I want to compare some more first.

Next stop on my instance tour, I'll be moving my main posting identity over to https://tilde.zone, where I already have @[email protected] set up and ready to go. The Tildeverse community is also oriented toward independent creative types, harkening back to the earliest Linux-based web identity model using a ~username after a domain to shortcut to the public user folder of that username.

Indieweb.Social

tilde.zone is an order of magnitude smaller than indieweb.social (thousands of users vs. tens of thousands), so I plan to make note of how that affects the experience.

Once I've explored enough, I'll pick a place to settle down, so I may be back here!

tilde.zone

mastodon instance of the tildeverse, a collection of small public access *nix systems for collaboration, creativity, and socializing. a proud part of the small internet.

Mastodon hosted on tilde.zone

https://indieweb.social is a fantastic place with a really interesting set of local and federated timelines.

I'm a longtime enthusiast of the independent web (going back to my "antiweb" days in the 90s, anti- commercialization, that was) so this a really good fit for me.

However, as I am still new to Mastodon and exploring the dynamics of instance size, after an initial stint on https://mstnd.social and a few great months, here, I am going to try migrating to a somewhat smaller host.

Indieweb.Social

INDIEWEB.SOCIAL is an instance focused on the evolution of #Openweb, #Indieweb, #Fediverse, #Mastodon, #Humanetech and #Calm technologies.

@bourgwick @mrcompletely that’s no excuse for not answering my lazy-ass question! 😂
@bourgwick @mrcompletely does this get into the revival tent meetings era?

@Derek is it a Mastodon fork?

(I recently set up a single-person sandbox instance and then a small instance to host Mastodon-shy friends and help them get launched.)

@mrcompletely yep I always thought it was a metaphor but it comes from *firm-* in Latin, referring to a fixed payment, and got its agricultural meaning in the 19th century from the concept of “farming out”
