@christianselig if you care about RGB lighting then, at least in my experience, Hue seems to be much more accurate and have a wider color range than competitors, and different color temperatures of white are much more accurate with the RGB Hue bulbs than other RGB bulbs. If you don’t care about color, and especially if you don’t care to change color temperature, then Lutron Caseta switches with standard bulbs is absolutely the way to go.
@BasicAppleGuy there’s a Mac App Store?? /s
@BasicAppleGuy I never liked Launchpad, personally. I still have the Applications folder pinned to the dock, I just wish it weren’t so slow to load the icons every time!
@verge wow, I’ll be on the look out for flying pigs!
@stephenrobles Very curious to see what user support will be like. I’ve been wanting to do something similar but the thought of needing to handle user questions and finding time to fix bugs (and the possibility that AI won’t be able to fix them, leaving me to figure it out) while also handling life and my day job, seems like added stress I seriously don’t need. I hope I’m wrong! 😃
@paul check Swappa, iirc they verify all serial numbers before you can post a listing.
@traal @marcoarment Another vote for trying out Ghostty, it’s very fast, highly compatible, and great defaults out of the box.
@jeisom upgrading to SSD would definitely help, but those unibody iMacs are a pain to open and I’d have to do 90 of them 🥴
@paul At work we use 2018 iMacs as registers, they’re painful to use at this point even though all it ever does is run a single chrome tab. Even the System Settings app takes a full minute to load, supporting them is awful. Granted our have the base HDD but still, I can’t imagine how slow Tahoe would be on these, even with an SSD.
@BasicAppleGuy Hold onto it until Apple Intelligence is actually ready, you’ve got at least another year before that beautiful device is outdated.
