Ending the year the same way it started: a quiet, way-too-early morning writing about weird Canadian weather.
My second book came out (and won an award!). I got a promotion. I finally got my driver's license. My physical health is the best it's ever been. I seem to have found a way to juggle the weight of my depression.
It's about time I had a decent year. 👏

Frosty sunrise on my second-to-last day of a marathon string of holiday morning shifts. I'm gonna sleep all day Wednesday and Thursday, then do it over again next weekend.
How's the weather where you are today?
One of the most fascinating things about this developing storm over the Great Lakes is how it slingshots the cold air around the bottom of the system.
Those frigid temperatures are going to hit the eastern Great Lakes and push into the Northeast from the *southwest* instead of the north or west.
An extreme cold snap descending on the U.S. this week will lead to a 100+°F temperature gradient across the country by Thursday.
If the cold isn't bad enough, a major storm will develop just in time to jam up holiday travel plans.

Ouch. Next week's cold front is gonna be so mean that you can practically hear it go *THUMP* through the screen.
A vigorous cold snap will spill out of the Canadian Prairies next week and spread over the eastern two-thirds of the United States.
It's going to be a frigid Christmas weekend for much of the eastern U.S. Low temperatures in the lower 20s will reach all the way to the Gulf Coast.
Here's the NWS Climate Prediction Center's temperature outlook for Dec 24-30th. The dark blue is high confidence in below-normal temps.
This pattern could include a few opportunities for big snows. Get ready...
