Threads is already > 10% the size of Twitter.
It has been live for 16 hours and is not available in the EU and its population of ~750,000,000
Threads is going to win. Not because it is the best app. But because if Meta can convert even 20% of Instagram users into Threads users it'll be bigger than Twitter.
I already have a bigger community on threads than I do on Bluesky. It's close to Mastodon.

It was so much better before Twitter was run by a lunatic. I only had one place to check/post. Now I have Twitter, Mastodon, Bluesky, and Threads

You limit data scraping by blocking things a human user couldn't do, like access a thousand posts a minute. This is aimed directly at reducing normal activity across the whole system.
