Here is my latest image from last night! The great Orion Nebula (m42)

It sits at a distance of about 1400 light years from Earth, and is a great stellar nursery. Stars are born here!!

Taken with my 200mm newt at f3.8. This is only 39 minutes total exposure time 🤯

#Astrodon! Who is going to #AAS241? šŸ™‹šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø
Happy new year! Another year means another year-long keogram! Every 15 seconds throughout 2022, my trusty all-sky camera took a picture of the sky above the Netherlands. Combining these 2.1 million images into a year-long keogram reveals this picture, which shows the length of the night change throughout the year (the hourglass shape), when the Moon was visible at night (diagonal bands), and the Sun higher in the sky during summer, as well as lots and lots of clouds passing overhead.

Gotta say, the AI Bros going "have you played with it?" are getting really fucking tiresome.

Yes, I know its fun, so is cocaine. I stay away from that also.

There's so much going on in the images that I briefly call "Flame and Horsehead" that I annotated this one for anyone who's interested. You'll know exactly where it lives it the sky when you know that the bright star Alnitak is one of the three stars in Orion's Belt.
