I'm a 1st year PGR looking for connections in arts/humanities. Interests are in mobilities, counterculture, hyperstition, practice research. Where should I been looking on Mastodon? #academia #humanities #phd
I really, really, really want to move from Twitter to Mastodon, but I just can't find my community here. Any tips?
What a beautiful night on the coast for me run. Mars was massive and tangerine orange rising over the North Sea! Just stunning
Hi #academics, who should I be following in #mobility studies please?
I love writing to music. Usually I'll find something that fits the piece, then stick it on a Spotify radio playlist. It's like putting saffron in a dish - you don't notice it overtly but it's there, suffusing everything. This week has mostly been Burial and stuff off Ghost Box. Eerie and spectral. Lovely.
"Everything is fiction. That fact shifted the floor from under me before it showed me the and: everything is fiction and all of my fictions can be made tangible. It all already exists. Love for myself is protecting my imagination from their facts and their set-in-stone. It’s protecting my world from the world, feeding it fat with faith, giving it my trust for dessert. All I know for sure these days is this: Nothing is real. Everything is real. We can go anywhere." https://www.theparisreview.org/blog/2021/01/06/reality-is-plasticine/
Reality Is Plasticine

This is one of the most liberating adult lessons, isn’t it: that everything that was insisted upon, passed down to you as an inflexible rule, was made up.

People who run screenwriting courses please, please stop telling new writers to focus on writing things that are “small and easy to make”. Especially if your students love genre stuff.

This is not the way

Time for another #introductions post!

Hello, I'm a practice led researcher in creative writing at Northumbria University. I'm interested in hauntology, mobility, road novels, counterculture and, of course, writing!

Just switched to a better server so starting from scratch on here!
